I had the opportunity to attend a Samsung press conference in New York City where the company announced its newest line of foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Flip6 and the Galaxy Z Fold6. In my first hands-on experience with the new gear, I found the devices to be similar in form factor to last year’s models but there are some software and hardware enhancements on both.
Notably, the Z Flip6 has an upgraded front camera that should greatly produce higher resolution photos and videos. The 50MP camera is an improvement over the 12MP camera one previous models. The front cover of the device can now display more widgets without having to open the clamshell device. The Z Fold6 front screen has been narrowed by a hair and feels a bit lighter from the Z Fold5.
Prices of each of each phone increased $100 from last year’s models with the Z Flip6 starting at $1100 and the Z Fold6 at $1900.
Here is a more in-depth look at the devices as see on “Great Day Houston,” KHOU-TV (CBS).
