Mazda debuted it's all-new CX-90 recently in Malibu, California, and invited a handful of auto journos for a first-look.
The CX-90 is the largest vehicle Mazda has launched in the U.S. and will soon replace the CX-9. It has three rows and can be configured with either 6, 7, or 8-passsengers seating depending on the trim level.
We saw two versions including a 3.3L inline 6-cylinder with a "mild hybrid" engine capable of up to 340hp. A PHEV was also shown that will produce up to 323hp with a batter capacity of 17.8 kWh.
AWD is standard on all models yet this is a RWD-based system so it is capable of sending all of the engine power to the rear.
The interior was impressive if not elegant. Hand-woven fabric lines the dashboard in front of the passenger seat along with a beautiful, smooth wood panel on the doors.
We did not have the opportunity to drive or ride in the CX-90 nor did Mazda announce pricing or an exact delivery date. But you should expect the new vehicles in dealerships by this Spring.
