The July 4th flooding throughout central Texas was an eye-opening tragedy that should cause all of us to be prepared for unexpected natural disasters. I have long provided annual tips and info across southeast Texas for hurricane preparedness but we now know that no place is safe from the power of Mother Nature.
Here are some tips that every family should heed when it comes to preparing their home and vehicle emergency kits. It’s more than just batteries, water and cans of tuna. Make sure you have a “go bag” that can keep products dry and refresh and replenish those items regularly to make sure the batteries, flashlights, food and more have not expired. Plus, keep cell phones up-to-date with emergency contact numbers of family, neighbors, utility companies, and first responders.
