Waiting for the Score

Then again so are the Boston Red Sox.  Hey oooooooohhh…

I actually mean the ZTE Score, the new Android smartphone on the Cricket Wireless network.  I should be getting a demo unit tomorrow and am excited.  I have been using a Cricket phone for the past several months with the very cool Muve Music service and am anxious to try to the service on a smartphone.

It’s the first smartphone from Chinese telecom equipment supplier ZTE to launch in the U.S.  It uses Android 2.3 and comes with a 600 MHz processor.  It also features a 3.5-in. touch screen, with a 3.2 megapixel camera and Wi-Fi access.

Cricket Wireless offers monthly plans without contracts.  They are available at Cricket retailers, resellers and in Best Buy locations.  The phone is being sold for a suggested retail price of $130.

ZTE, which also manufactures mobile handsets and tablets, has been looking to increase its presence in the U.S. market, and announced earlier this year it would launch its first smartphone in the country.  Stand by for a full review.
