All You Need To Know About The New iPhone (5)

The Apple iPhone 5 event that millions have waited almost two years for has arrived — and plenty of live coverage is available to get iPhone 5 release date, features information, photos, and more.

The Apple event is set for at 10 a.m.  in San Francisco, or noon CST. There won’t be any live video or television of the event, since Apple doesn’t allow that. I will be on-air during this time in Houston on The 9-5-0 and iHeartRadio for up-to-the-minute commentary.  There are plenty of live blogs that will be providing coverage as the Apple event unfolds.  These include:

The latest rumors suggest that the next-generation iPhone will look similar to the iPhone 4S, but with a slightly thinner and larger screen and a two-tone body with a metal backside.

The device’s display is expected to measure 4 inches instead of 3.5 inches in diagonal, and it will be elongated, so that the screen assumes a video-friendly 16×9 aspect ratio. Pixel counters make note: Instead of 960 x 640, it is rumored to be 1136 x 640.

Several reports and recent part leaks suggest that the next iPhone will use a smaller 19-pin port rather than the wider 30-pin port found on current iPhones, iPads and iPods. The 30-pin connector has been a mainstay since 2003.  Consumers should be aware that current accessories may suddenly be obsolete.

Gizmodo has a nice overview of all the potential things we may see in the new iPhone 5.
